ATOM 1
During the Atom 1 project, 4 industrial partners and 3 academic partners studied a number of selected industrially relevant processes for their applicability in flow, in an attempt to make the challenging step from proof of concept at the lab scale to trial runs at the kilo scale. Key lessons learnt during this 2-years project include dealing with solid-liquid heterogeneous feed streams, viscosity change during the reaction and mass transfer limitations in liquid-liquid heterogeneous systems. Importantly, the encouraging results obtained were all on processes that are economically very relevant to the industrial partners.
