Our approach to innovation

Our Approach to Innovation

As a spearhead cluster, we build partnerships between companies, universities, research institutes, associations and governments in Flanders. Through high-impact innovation projects, we support our members in accelerating innovation into business.

The chemical and plastics industry has long been one of Flanders’ greatest strengths — an integrated cluster, leading in innovation, collaboration, and industrial excellence. Today our sector is navigating an increasingly complex landscape. The chemical industry has always been a solution provider and will continue to do so in areas such as productivity, circularity, climate change and the battle against pollution. Catalisti, together with its partners, is developing a renewed Innovation Roadmap to guide the innovation efforts of our cluster toward a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient chemical sector. find out more about this initiative

Four Innovation Programs

Although each of our four innovation programs has its own content and goals, there are significant interfaces between the programs. In addition, there are also different links with the Moonshot Research Paths of the Flanders Industry Innovation Moonshot.

Through our collaborative innovation projects involving industrial and academic partners, we actively contribute and give rise to a sustainable and competitive chemicals and plastics industry in Flanders. Our projects fit into an overarching Innovation Agenda, which includes four specific Innovation Programs. Click the icons below to dive into our programs and projects. Within these innovation programs, we have a track record of successful partnerships and projects, employing a well-established approach to open innovation.
