During the twelfth edition of the Factory of the Future Awards, TotalEnergies Ertvelde once again secured the title of “Factory of the Future” for three years. This prestigious title recognises the most innovative companies in our country that are firmly committed to Industry 4.0. Bert Boekaerts (Catalisti) had the honour of presenting the award to Filip Van de Vyver and Peter Cassauwers of ArcelorMittal Ertvelde.

TotalEnergies Ertvelde has won this title for the third time in a row. This makes the site one of a very select group of Belgian manufacturing companies that have been among the most future-oriented factories in the country for almost ten years without interruption.

The Factory of the Future label is awarded after a thorough audit by independent experts. Only companies that excel in digitisation, advanced technology, sustainability and a people-oriented organisation are eligible for the title.

Matthias Diependaele, Flemish Minister-President and Minister of Economy, Innovation, Industry and Digitalisation: "Flanders is among the absolute leaders in innovation and has industrial clusters that are known far beyond our regional borders. In this rapidly changing world, we must do everything we can to maintain and further expand our leading position. With the Industry Forum, we are taking up the challenge of an integrated industrial policy in Flanders, together with all industrial sectors. Manufacturing companies are the engine of our economy. They account for almost half of Flemish exports and provide a livelihood for many Flemish people."

Marc Tilmant, Factory of the Future expert at essenscia: "These new and renewed Factories of the Future once again demonstrate how strongly the chemical and life sciences sector is driving Belgian industry forward. Their trajectories prove that very diverse business models can evolve into modern, future-oriented production environments that are ready for the challenges of Industry 4.0. Whether it concerns production or highly specialised services, it always appears that successful transformation starts with a clear strategic vision and motivated, committed teams."

TotalEnergies Ertvelde, TotalEnergies' largest lubricant production site in Europe and the leading producer of lubricants in Belgium, is once again confirming its position as a leading production facility. Every year, more than 200 employees produce approximately 190,000 tonnes of complex lubricating oils for applications in the automotive sector, the food industry and other specialised sectors.

The site has grown to become a European benchmark for the production of lubricants and also plays a key international role as the headquarters of LubAnac, the used oil diagnostic centre that supports customers worldwide.
