New RAMP call, submit pre-proposals to VLAIO until 22 September 2026
The first call for the RAMP programme has been launched. RAMP stands for 'Raw Materials Partnership for the Green and Digital Transition'. It is a partnership under Horizon Europe that focuses on research and innovation regarding sustainable and efficient raw material supply. 37 funding agencies from 25 countries are participating in the first Joint Transnational Call, including VLAIO. Pre-proposals can be submitted until 22 September 2026.
Joint transnational call
The national and regional commitments for this call together amount to nearly 40 million euros. This amount is intended to support transnational research and innovation projects across the entire raw materials value chain.
RAMP expects proposals aimed at improving access to raw materials, while simultaneously promoting the principles of the circular economy, achieving sustainability, and minimizing social and environmental costs. The projects must create added value, be innovative, and contribute to industrial development. Applicants are encouraged to connect various steps in the value chain, bridge multiple disciplines, engage stakeholders, and position themselves within the relevant policy framework.
Project themes
The call covers six thematic areas across the entire raw materials value chain:
- Theme 1: Ensuring a resilient supply of raw materials from primary sources
- Theme 2: Focusing on secondary sources to improve access to raw materials
- Theme 3: Efficient and effective use of raw materials in design and production
- Theme 4: Overcoming technological barriers to circularity
- Theme 5: Translating circular economy ambitions into practice
- Theme 6: Innovative approaches to analyzing raw material value chains
The thematic scope of the Joint Transnational Call is based on RAMP’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) and covers both primary and secondary raw material supply, design and production, and the use and reuse of products and components. Applicants must choose one main topic that best reflects the main objective and the expected impact of the project.
Inter- and transdisciplinary approaches are strongly encouraged for all themes.
All proposals are expected to address transversal focus areas relevant to their subject. This includes, among others, gender balance and diversity, societal acceptance, the Safe and Sustainable by Design principle, and open science practices.
