The Transnational Eureka Lightweighting Call 2026 is now open. This Eureka call supports international research and development projects around lightweighting design: smart design and material solutions that make products lighter, more sustainable, repairable, reusable, or recyclable. Submissions can be made until October 8, 2026.

Eureka Call: collaborate internationally on an R&D project around lightweighting design

Who is this call for?

The call is aimed at Flemish companies that wish to develop a joint development or research project together with one or more partners from the participating countries. The Flemish project component can receive up to a maximum of €500,000 in support. You will receive the support via VLAIO.

Which projects?

Within this call, VLAIO accepts projects that focus on lightweight design innovation. Think of new or alternative advanced materials, smart design and production methods, digital technologies such as digital twins or machine learning, solutions for repairability and recycling, or scalable business models for circular lightweighting design. 

Which countries can you collaborate with?

You can set up projects with partners from Austria, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, South Africa, and South Korea.

Do you already have a project idea or are you still looking for the right international partner? Through the matchmaking platform, you can make your project proposal visible, find suitable partners, and start new collaborations.

Dates

  • 6 May 2026: call opens
  • 8 October 2026: deadline for submitting Eureka application
  • 22 October 2026 – 14:00 CET: deadline for submitting VLAIO project proposal
  • VLAIO decisions: from February 2027
