The plastics industry is constantly evolving. New materials, production processes and sustainability challenges require up-to-date knowledge and practical skills. To help professionals keep pace with these developments, Centexbel is organising six specialised courses this autumn on behalf of PlastiQ.

Polymer compounding
Whether you are new to the plastics sector or looking to strengthen your technical expertise, these training courses offer valuable insights into new materials, production processes and sustainability challenges. The courses cover a wide range of topics, including raw materials, compounding, extrusion, plastics analysis and the circular economy. All courses will be held at Centexbel in Kortrijk and conducted in Dutch.
 

Introduction to raw materials technology (10 September 2026)

Designed for professionals with little or no prior knowledge of plastics, this course introduces the fundamentals of polymer materials, their properties and applications. Participants will learn how plastics are classified and gain insights into composites and additives.
 

 

Practical introduction to compounding (22 September 2026)

This practical course provides an introduction to compounding using a co-rotating twin-screw extruder. Other production methods (e.g. dry blending for PVC, mixers for rubber, etc.) are not covered. Participants will gain insight into compounding equipment, process parameters, raw material handling and safety. During the practical session, they will learn how a compounding line operates through the production of various compounds. Some basic technical knowledge of plastics is required.

Introduction to blown film extrusion (29 September 2026) 

Participants gain an understanding of blown film extrusion, including die design, bubble formation, cooling and winding. The course also covers common processing challenges and material considerations (blown vs cast film). Some technical knowledge of plastics is required.
 

 

 

Introduction to profile extrusion (30 September 2026) 

This introductory course explains the profile extrusion process and the key principles behind the production of plastic profiles. It is intended for operators, profile manufacturers and anyone seeking a better understanding of this technology. Some technical knowledge of plastics is required.
 

 


Introduction to basic plastics analysis (20 October 2026) 

Learn how testing and analysis can help understand material behaviour and solve plastics-related challenges. The course introduces commonly used mechanical, thermal and analytical techniques and explains how test results can be interpreted in practice.
 
 
 

Training course circular economy: using recycled materials in the plastics industry (22 October 2026)

This introductory course explores the opportunities and challenges of incorporating recycled plastics into products and processes. Participants gain insight into legislation, recycling technologies, material specifications and design principles for circular products.
