The strategically important chemical cluster in Flanders, the Netherlands, and North Rhine-Westphalia—which accounts for approximately 40% of Europe’s basic chemical production—is under increasing pressure and risks losing further competitiveness without a coordinated industrial policy. Jobs, investments, and Europe’s strategic autonomy are at stake. That is why a joint, cross-border approach at the cluster level is necessary, particularly in the area of infrastructure. This is evident from a new study presented today to representatives of the European Commission, the Critical Chemicals Alliance, national governments, and chemical companies.
