Colour - Seeing beyond pigment
Hasselt , Belgium
We invite you with great pleasure to our Captain’s Table ‘Colour – Seeing beyond pigment’, on Thursday 8 May in Z33 House for Contemporary Art, Design & Architecture. A unique opportunity where research, innovation and entrepreneurship come together around a fascinating and topical theme: sustainable colour production.

Why participate?
The colour industry is facing a major transition: how can we produce colour in a sustainable way, without replacing only existing products, but with a fundamental reworking of materials and techniques?
During this round table we bring together researchers, entrepreneurs and designers to explore new insights and collaborations around biobased pigments and structural colors.
The economic added value of this session is clear: how can you, as a company, learn from research and technology to capitalize and scale innovations (and vice versa)? In addition, the VLAIO business consultants are happy to join in thinking about valorisation and financial support options for possible collaborations. This offers you as a company concrete opportunities to further expand your activities with innovative and sustainable applications.
This Captain’s Table is linked to the festive opening of the expo ‘Colour – Seeing beyond pigment’ in the context of Kunstennacht. This final piece of four years of research explores the possibilities of ecological inks from microalgae and structural colors from biological nanostructures, applied in works of art and design objects by Heleen Sintobin, Amandine David, Bram Vanderbeke and Ann Veronica Janssens (Laboratorium – the biolab for art, design and biotechnology of the KASK & Conservatory in Ghent).
This initiative is supported by POM Limburg, VLAIO, LUCA School of Arts, Z33 and C-mine.
